Edyth died November 9, 2004 in Roanoke, Randolph Co., AL. Obit: (ROCK MILLS) Graveside services for Edyth Kerr Head, 90, of Rock Mills were Thursday, Nov. 11, 2004, at 11 a.m. at Randolph Memory Gardens, with the Rev. Pete Grice officiat­ing. The family suggests the following charities for memorial donations: Covenant Hospice (107 West 19th Street, Panama City, FL 32405); Alzheimer's Association (255 N. Michigan Avenue, 17th Floor, Chicago, IL 60601-7633); or Rock Mills Methodist Church. Mrs. Head died Tuesday, Nov. 9, at Community Health and Rehabilitation Center in Panama City. Survivors include her son, William Mark “Bill” Head of West Bay, Fla.; two grandchildren; a sister, Mildred K. Snow of Birmingham; a sister-in-law, Louise Head of Roanoke; and many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Darby Head, Joe Snow, Carey "Bubba" Baker, Donald Marion, James Kendrick and Gene Adamson. A Randolph County native, Mrs. Head was born Aug. 2, 1914, daughter of Joseph and Mary Levis Matthews Kerr. She lived in Wedowee, attended Montevallo College and graduat­ed from Jacksonville State College with a degree in education. She taught school in Woodland, Wedowee and Rock Mills. During World War II while her husband Mark was overseas, she worked at the courthouse with Judge Brittain. She was a member of Rock Mills Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years. She was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Her love of gardening led her to join the Crape Myrtle Garden Club. For over 40 years, she and Mark owned and operated Rock Mills Grocery, located in the rock building overlooking the waterfalls of Wehadkee Creek. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 56 years, Mark E. Head; four sisters, Louise Traylor, Mary Jo Traylor, Helen Marion and Madge Bramlett; and a brother, R. H. Kerr. Arrangements were by Quattlebaum Funeral Home, Roanoke. __________

She married Mark Edmondson Head August 3, 1940 in Standing Rock, Chambers Co., AL. Mark was born April 3, 1918 in Rock Mills, Randolph Co., AL. Mark was the son of Jason Head and Emma Lou (___). Mark died September 11, 1996 in Roanoke, Randolph Co. AL. Mark is buried din the Memory Gardens Cemetery, Randolph Co., AL
