Wallace died March 29, 2008 in Yadkinville, Yadkin Co., NC. OBIT: HUTCHENS YADKINVILLE - Mr. Wallace H. Hutchens, 87, of Old Stage Road, passed away Saturday, March 29, 2008, at Hoots Memorial Hospital. He was born June 6, 1920, in Yadkin County to the late Harrison and Vercie Allgood Hutchens. Mr. Hutchens was a veteran of World War II, serving in the European Theater with the 10th Armored Division, 11th Tank Batallion of the U.S. Army. He was a deacon and faithful member of Deep Creek Baptist Church, worked for many years with his brother, Buck, building houses for family, neighbors and friends, and also worked in farming. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Gilbert Hutchens, Herbert "Buck" Hutchens, Ruth Holcomb, Gladys Weatherman, Lillian Hutchens. Surviving are his beloved wife of 59 years, Dorothy A. Hutchens of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Leah Hutchens, Daniel and Julie Ann Hutchens, all of Yadkinville; three grandchildren, Kayla Hutchens, Zack Hutchens, Annemarie Hutchens; two sisters, Joyce (Eugene) Dinkins, Betty Thompson; and a sister-in-law, Imogene Hutchens. His funeral will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Monday, March 31, at Deep Creek Baptist Church, with the Rev. Michael Faircloth and the Rev. Chris Hauser officiating. His body will be in the church from 2 to 2:30 p.m. Monday, March 31, before the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors by Yadkin VFW Post 10346. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today, March 30, at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Deep Creek Baptist Church, 2400 Old Stage Road, Yadkinville, NC 27055.
