OBIT: Mrs. Leta Grey Hoots Steelman , 84, passed away Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at her home. Mrs. Steelman was born September 4, 1931 in Yadkin County to Fletcher and Mucie Allgood Hoots. She was a member of Sandy Springs Baptist Church. Mrs. Steelman enjoyed reading and sewing, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Steelman was preceded in death by two sisters, Phosa Reavis and Lola Joyner; and three brothers, Ray, Robert, and Max Hoots. She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Billy Hoover Steelman; two daughters, Debbie Steelman and Janice (Jim) Weakland; five grandchildren, Hannah, Zac, and Jacob Weakland, Maribeth (Chris) Duggins, and Mollie Schultz; two great grandchildren, Collier Schultz and Graham Duggins; and one sister, Betty (Bristol) Renegar. A funeral service will be conducted Thursday, December 3, 2015 at Sandy Springs Baptist Church, 2930 Sandy Springs Rd, Harmony, NC 28634, with Rev. David Kiser officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00PM at the church prior to the service.
She married Bill Hoover Steelman February 14, 1953 in Yadkin Co., NC. Bill was born May 15, 1928 in Yadkin Co., NC. Bill was the son of Harding Steelman and Minnie Jane Sharp. Bill died February 24, 2016 in Winston-Salem, Forsyth Co., NC.
