Helen died June 28, 2004 in New London, Stanly Co., NC. Obit: Helen Hoffner Elium, 76, New London, died Monday (June 28, 2004) at Stanly Memorial Hospital, Albemarle, after a period of declining health.

BornJune 12, 1928, in Salisbury, Mrs. Elium, a daughter of the late Floyd and Lillie Allgood Hoffner, was a 1946 graduate of East Spencer High School.

Early in her career, she worked for Southern Bell in Salisbury. She later worked at A.T. Allen School in Salisbury. She was a member of Christiana Lutheran Church, Salisbury.

Her husband, Narvie Augusta Elium Jr., died Nov. 21, 1996.

Survivors include sons Michael Elium, New London, and Sgt. Maj. Kenneth Allen Elium, Fredricksburg, Va.; daughters Beverly E. Love, Concord, and Sandy E. Dixon, New London; sister Marie Lomax, Salisbury; and eight grandchildren.

Services: 2 p.m. Wednesday, Christiana Lutheran Church, Salisbury, conducted by the Rev. Carl M. Haynes.

Visitation: 7-8:30 tonight, Summersett Funeral Home, Salisbury.

She married Narvie Augusta Elium JR. Narvie was born March 31, 1929 in Rowan Co., NC. Narvie was the son of Navie Augusta Elium and Georgiia Ann Brown. Narvie died November 21, 1996 in Albemarle, Stanly Co., NC.

Helen Alemeta Hoffner and Narvie Augusta Elium JR had the following children:
