Mary died Mary 19, 2005 in Sweetwater, Monroe Co., TN. OBIT: Mary Ellen White Cardin of Madisonville, went home to be with the Lord at 4:37 a.m., Saturday, March 19, at Sweetwater Hospital. She was born Feb. 26, 1928, to Mack and Dollie Tallent White. She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church for more than 50 years, where she taught Sunday School. She was owner and operator of Mary’s Beauty Shop in Vonore with her daughter, Sandy from 1963-1974. She was a well-known local poet and was a recipient of several poetry awards. She was 77. Preceded in death by: daughter, Sandra Gail Lynn; son Ricky Lee Cardin; parents; sister and brother-in-law, Mamie and Fate (Casey) Jones; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bob and Irene White, Norman (Kiffy) and Cleona White, Tallent Gray (T.G.) and Nell White and Kenneth Jack White. Survivors-husband of 57 years- Blake E. Cardin; Daughter and son-in-law- Deborah and Danny Greene of Madisonville; Granddaughters and spouses-Kristee and Doug Moses of Tellico Plains; Kasi and Marc Reagan of Greenback; DeAnna Crowder of Tellico Plains; and DaShawna Greene of Madisonville; Great-grandchildren- Sierra and Sheridon Moses, Blake Crowder, Cheyenne and Savannah Greene and Tyler Akins; Sister- Ruby Forshee of Greenback; Sister-in-law- Cara White of Madisonville; several nieces & nephews; Special friends- Mark and Robin Boling- Roanoke, Va. Funeral services were 2 p.m., Monday in Oak Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Lee Chorn and Rev. Bob Morgan officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. Biereley-Hale Funeral Home, Madisonville, in charge of arrangements.
She married Blake E. Cardin 1948. Blake was born November 19, 1925 in Monroe Co., TN. Blake was the son of Robert L. Cardin and Nannie E. Williamsd. Blake died September 7, 2006 in Madisonville, Monroe Co., TN. Obit: Blake E. Cardin (Sept. 7, 2006) Blake E. Cardin age 80, of Madisonville, passed away at 6 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 7, at his home. He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church and Tellico Saddle Club. He was an avid horseman and a veteran of the U.S. Army serving under General Patton in World War II. He was 80. Preceded in death by: wife, Mary Ellen White Cardin; daughter, Sandra (Sandy) Gail Lynn; son, Richard (Ricky) Lee Cardin; parents, Robert and Nannie Cardin; sisters, Edna Caldwell, Imogene Tallent, Verda Hughes and Irene Martin; brothers, Pryor, Aubrey and Wayne Cardin. Survivors include: daughter and son-in-law- Deborah and Danny R. Greene of Madisonville; Granddaughters and spouses-Kristee and Douglas R. Moses of Tellico Plains; Kasi and Marc Reagan of Greenback; DeAnna M. Crowder of Tellico Plains; and DaShawna L. Greene of Madisonville; Great-grandchildren-Sierra and Sheridon Moses of Tellico Plains; Blake Crowder of Tellico Plains; Cheyenne and Savannah Greene of Madisonville; and Tyler Akins of Madisonville; Brother and sisters-in-law-Arlin and Marge Cardin of Maryville; Ruby Forshee and Pauline Cardin; Several nieces and nephews.
