The Edward Algood Family

Lorenzo Eugene¹⁰ Allgood (Carl Samuel⁹, Randolph Isaac⁸, William S⁷, Samuel Young⁶, John Young⁵, William⁴ Algood, Edward³ Allgood, William², Edward¹ Algood) was born in Newton Co., GA June 7, 1921. Lorenzo died November 4, 2013 in Gainsville, Hall Co., GA. OBIT: Mr. Lorenzo Eugene Allgood, age 92, of Gainesville, Ga., passed away Monday, Nov. 4, 2013, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center Hospice.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013, at Memorial Park North Riverside Chapel. Dr. Terry Walton will officiate. The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2013, at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held Thursday, Nov. 7, 2013, at 2 p.m. at the Oxford Historical Cemetery, Oxford, Ga.

Mr. Allgood was born on June 7, 1921, in Newton County, Ga., the son of the late Carl Samuel Allgood Sr. and Etta Gertrude Wiley Allgood. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II at various training camps. As a naturalist he enjoyed spending time in the outdoors, including extensive hunting and fishing trips. This love of hunting carried over into the many bird dogs he trained over the years. He was preceded in death by six brothers; and one sister.

He and several partners obtained the property that is now the Boy Scouts Camp in Union County. Subsequent to that he consolidated the land that is now Smithgall Woods near Helen, Ga. He was on of the first to introduce the Charolais cattle breed to the North Georgia area.

Mr. Allgood is survived by his wife of 71 years, Runette Ridgeway Allgood, Gainesville; son, Al Allgood, Gainesville, Ga.; son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Andrew and Beverly Allgood, Augusta, Ga.; grandchildren, Kyle Allgood, Melissa Allgood, Bradley Allgood, Hillary Allgood; and three great-grandchildren.

He married Runette Ridgeway 1943. Runette was born May 28,1924 in Winder, Barrow Co., GA. Runette was the daughter of Waymon Ridgeway and Rubye Greeson. Runette died Aril 8, 2020 in Lawrenceville, Gwinnett Co., GA.

Lorenzo Eugene Allgood and Runette Ridgeway had the following children:

 22153 ii. Alfred L Allgood was born August 12,1944.
