Rodney was born August 15, 1947 in Effingham, Illinois to Merle Eugene and Eileen (Pearce) Parish. He married Anita Kay Cantrell on November 18, 1988 in Marion, Kentucky. Rodney did auto body work and car sales. He was very knowledgeable about classic cars and loved working with old cars and going to car shows. He also enjoyed his animals around the property.
Rodney is survived by his wife: Anita Parish of Flora; 3 children: Rodney "J.R." Parish Jr. (wife Emily) of Xenia, Sandra Morales (husband Perry) of Pleasanton, Texas, Cecil Eugene "Buster" Parish of Flora; 3 step-children: Diane Vest (husband Ralph) of Johnsonville, Sandy Baker (husband Mike) of Keenes, Daphne Urbanski (husband Frank) of Xenia; 9 grandchildren, 6 step-grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, 8 step-great-grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother (Gary Parish), and a sister (Diane Ewell).
The funeral service for Rodney Parish will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at Frank & Bright Funeral Home with visitation from 11a.m. until time of service on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Powers Cemetery, Xenia.
He married Anita Kay Cantrell November 18, 1988 in Marion, KY. Anita was born May 1, 1945 in Salem, Marion Co., IL. Anita was the daughter of Johnie Jasper Cantrell and Ruby J Lee. Anita died January 22, 2016 in Flora, Clay Co., IL. OBIT: Anita Kay Parish, age 71, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Wednesday morning, June 22, 2016, at her home in Flora.
Anita was born May 1, 1945, in Salem, the daughter of Johnnie and Ruby (Lee) Cantrell. She married Rodney Ray Parish on November 18, 1988, in Marion, Kentucky. He preceded her in death May 23, 2014.
Over the years, Anita worked as a waitress at the Ranch Steakhouse in Flora and was a cook and cashier at her daughter’s restaurants in Orchardville and Wayne City. She was a member of Pleasant Mound General Baptist Church in Xenia and will be lovingly remembered as a “Tough Old Bird”.
Anita is survived by her children: Diane Vest (Ralph), Sandy Baker (Mike), and Daphne Urbanski (Frank); step-children: Rodney “J.R.” Parish Jr. (Emily), Sandra Morales (Perry), and Cecil Eugene “Buster” Parish; 15 grandchildren: Heather Stephenson, Melanie Brookman, Ashley Rightnowar, Casey Baker, Thadius Urbanski, Desiree Pursley, Justin Parish, Quaden Noblet, Justin Holden, Levi Holden, Colton Holden, Tori Holden, Eathan Parish, CJ Parish, and Ginger Parish; and ten great-grandchildren: Nathan Rector, Samantha Brookman, Mikenzie Alvis, Shaley Rightnowar, Londynn Pontious, Memphis Pontious, Ayden Pursley, Alex Pursley, Jaden Parish, and Gavin Parish; and a very good friend: Joyce Watson. Her dogs, Sherry, Abbey, and Angie along with her cats and a goose were also a very special part of Anita’s family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother: Eddie Cantrell, and a grandson: Joshua Baker.
A funeral service for Anita Parish will be 1 p.m. Monday, June 27, 2016, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home, Flora, with visitation from 11 a.m. until the hour of service on Monday.
Rodney Ray Parish and Anita Kay Cantrell had the following children:
