He married Virginia K. Parent Janaury 18,1948. Virginia was born January 14,1929 in Tangier, Parke Co., IN. Virginia was the daughter of Gernie Allen Parent and Ella Norris. Virginia died March 22, 2001 in eTerra Haut, IN. OBIT: Virginia Newnum, 72, Rockville, died 10:58 am Thursday in Union Hospital, Terra Haute. A homemaker, Mrs. Newnum was a retired beautician. She was a Tangier (Ind.) High School graduate and a member of Rush Creek Friends Church. She was born Jan. 14, 1929, at Tangier to Gernie and Ella Norris Parent. She married Paul Edward Newnum Jan. 18, 1948. He died Nov. 1, 1979. Survivors include three daughters, Ellen Jane Blacketer, Avon, and Jennie Blacketer and Bobbi Jones, both of Marshall; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. A brother, Perry Parent, and a grandson, William Blacketer, are deceased. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 am Monday in Gooch Funeral Home, 112 Howard St., Rockville, with the Revs. Don Perry and Ruth Isaacs officiating. Burial will be in Rush creek Cemetery near Tangier.
