He married Lois Evelyn Mikles. Lois was born April 16, 1918 in Guilford Co., NC. Lois was the daughter of Lewis Pleasant Mikles and Laura Anne Merrideth. Lois died December 30, 2002 in Yadkin Co., NC. OBIT: Mrs. Lois Evelyn Mikles Thomas, 84, formerly of East Bend, died Monday, Dec. 30, 2002, at Willowbrook Health Care Center in Yadkinville. She was born April 16, 1918, in Guilford County to Lewis Pleasant and Laura Anne Merrideth Mikles. She was a member of Old Town Baptist Church. She worked at AT&T for over 23 years retiring in 1974. She was a member of the Pioneer Club at AT&T. She was raised by Mertie and Julius Mikles. Mrs. Thomas was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Elwood "Chuck" Thomas; a son, Robert "T-Bird" Thomas; two brothers; three sisters; and her stepmother, Mary Mikles. Surviving are two sons, Lonnie Thomas of East Bend and the Rev. Richard Thomas of Walnut Cove; two sisters, Camilla Mikles Baxter of Virginia Beach, Va., and Ruth Helm of St. Petersburg, Fla.; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, 2003, at Huff Funeral Home Chapel in East Bend by the Rev. Dr. Wade Dellinger. Burial will follow at Stony Knoll United Methodist Church Cemetery.
