Charles died January 12, 2009 in Hartsville, Darlington Co., SC. OBIT: Funeral service for Charles Edward Dalton, 82, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 14, 2009, at St. Luke United Methodist Church. The Rev. Phil Thrailkill and the Rev. Dr. Ben Gafford will officiate, with burial in Magnolia Cemetery, directed by Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to St. Luke United Methodist Church, 302 Dunlap Drive, Hartsville, SC 29550. Mr. Dalton died Monday, January 12, 2009. Born in Acworth, GA, he was a son of the late William M. and Connie Beatrice Allgood Dalton. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and had retired from Sonoco Products Co. with 38 years of service in the Electric Shop. He was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church, XYZ Club, Adult Fellowship Class, American Legion and the Sonoco Old Timers Club. Surviving are his wife, Geraldine Morrison Stewart Dalton of Hartsville, SC; son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Debbie Dalton of Hickory, NC; daughter, Lura Dalton Baker of Cheraw, SC; brother, Marvin Dalton of Hartsville, SC; stepson, Emmett Lee Stewart, Jr. and his wife, Kay Stewart, of Hartsville, SC; stepdaughters, Susan Stewart Goode and her husband, Johnny Goode, of Hartsville, SC, Angela Stewart Barfield and her husband, Terry Barfield, of Findlay, OH, Kathy Stewart of Andrews, SC; several stepgrandchildren, nieces and nephews.
