He married Mary Fuller Pace. Mary was born January 31, 1916 in Franklin Co., NC. Mary was the daughter of Bryant Goodson Pace and Cassie Woodlief. Mary died April 18, 2010 in Henderson, Vance Co., NC. OBIT: Mary Fuller Pace Evans, age 94, a resident of 209 Perry St., passed away peacefully at Maria Parham Medical Center on Sunday, April 18, 2010, with family members by her side. Born on January 31, 1916, in Franklin County, she was the daughter of the late Bryant Goodson Pace and Cassie Woodlief Pace.
She was a homemaker and a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Zeb Vance High School, where she was valedictorian of her class.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday in the J.M. White Funeral Home Chapel by Dr. Paul A. Baxley. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
She is survived by one son, William Marshall Evans of Henderson; one daughter, Mary Carolyn Evans Walser (Michael) of Boca Raton, Fla.; one daughter-in-law, Mary Taylor Evans of Raleigh; one grandson, Nicholas Taylor Evans of Raleigh; two brothers, Bryant Pace of Virginia Beach, Va., and Edwin Pace of Cary; and one sister, Hazel P. Peck of Henderson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ashby D. Evans, Sr.; two sons, Ashby D. Evans, Jr., and John “Nick” Evans; two sisters, Maysel Howland and Amelia Kittrell; and one brother, Wilson Pace.
Ashby Dorsey Evans and Mary Fuller Pace had the following children:

15018 iii. Ashby Dorsey Evans JR was born in Alamance Co., NC June 18, 1940. Ashby died March 18, 1997 in Greensboro, Guilford Co., NC.
15019 iv. John Nicholas (Nick) Evans was born March 16, 1952.
