He married LaRue Wall July 8,1939 in Winston-Salem, Forsyth Co., NC. LaRue was born May 11, 1915 in NC. LaRue was the daughter of Numa F. Wall and Etta S. (__). LaRue died December 28,2001 in Winston-Salem, Forsyth Co., NC. OBIT: Mrs. LaRue W. Jones passed away peacefully at home on Dec. 28, 2001.
She was born to Numa F. Wall and Etta S. Wall on May 11, 1915.
Three infant brothers and both of her parents preceded her in death. Her loving husband, Merlin J. Jones also preceded her in death on Dec. 18, 1974.
She was a lifelong member of Doub's United Methodist Church, where she played the organ for more than 50 years. She was also a member of Doub's United Methodist Women.
In addition, she provided a loving foster home for more than 25 years, the last being three sisters, Michelle, Donna and Lynn. Her son, Orval W. Jones and wife, Sylvia of Pfafftown and her daughter, Shelba J. Rominger and husband, Curtis of Pfafftown survive her. She has four grandchildren, Eric W. Jones and wife Sonja of Winston-Salem, Brent N. Jones and wife Kristen of Morrisville, Bradley N. Rominger and fiancee Gwen Staker of Pfafftown, and Amber R. Gutierrez and husband Julio of Winston-Salem. She has two great-grandchildren, Esperanza LaRue Gutierrez and Zachary Nelson Jones.
Visitation will be at Doub's United Methodist Church, 5591 Seward Road, Pfafftown, Sunday an hour prior to services at 3 p.m. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Dwight Cartner. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice-Palliative CareCenter; Doub's United Methodist Church or a charity of the donor's choice. Vogler & Sons Reynolda Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
