Augusta died August 21, 2004 in Brookhaven, Lincoln Co., MS. OBIT: Augusta "Gussie" Case Smith, 79, of Brookhaven, died Aug. 21, 2004, at her residence. Visitation is 4 to 8 tonight at Brookhaven Funeral Home. Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Macedonia Baptist Church with burial in Macedonia Cemetery.
Mrs. Smith was born June 30, 1925, in Brookhaven, daughter of Gus Case and Betty Smith Case Hall. She was a telephone operator for BellSouth and King's Daughters Hospital for 20 years each before she retired. She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Hollis Smith; one son, Tommy Smith; one brother and five sisters.
Mrs. Smith is survived by one son, Joe and wife Mary Smith of Brookhaven; two daughters, June Hall of Brookhaven and Jan and husband Larry Williams of Summit; one sister, Bessie Smith of Brookhaven; and grandchildren, Brad Smith, Tate Smith, Nikki and Kelly Altman, Gayla Hall, Katie Williams and Matthew Williams.
She married twice. She married an unknown person. She married Hollis Smith. Hollis was born July 22, 1923 in Brookhaven, Lincoln Co., MS. Hollis was the son of William Thomas Smith and Amy Louella (Ella) Walker. Hollis died October 13, 1985. Hollis was buried in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery, Lincoln Co., MS.
Augusta (Gussie) Case and Hollis Smith had the following children:
